Lara

The best translation technology ever created

What is Lara?

Lara is a machine translation solution based on Large Language Models developed by Translated, the company that pioneered online translation and created ModernMT, the revolutionary adaptive machine translation engine.
Large Language Models (LLMs) are cutting-edge AI systems designed to understand and generate human language. In machine translation, they offer superior results by leveraging their deep understanding of linguistic patterns and context, producing translations that are more fluid and natural compared to older methods.

What makes Lara stand out?

Lara harnesses the power of LLMs to provide the best machine translation you’ve ever seen.

It adapts to context: Lara analyzes the context of the sentence it is translating to understand the relationships between sentences, ensuring a natural flow and consistency throughout the translation. By maintaining a full contextual understanding, Lara accurately reflects the original intent while enhancing readability for the target audience.

It adapts to you: Lara adapts in real time to the content of your translation memories and to the corrections you make to its suggestions while you are translating; it does not require any initial training or setup time, it learns quickly and seamlessly from your past and current translations in order to guarantee high quality, speed and consistency.

For example, if you frequently translate documents related to medical research, Lara will learn from your past translations and adapt its suggestions to use more precise medical terminology and a style fitting for this specific kind of text, allowing you to work faster and focus on quality. Additionally, by using the Lara Glossary, you can ensure that the specific medical terms whose translation you have included in the glossary are consistently translated correctly throughout your projects, further enhancing accuracy and consistency.

Available options

Once Lara is activated, click the Options button at the bottom of the panel to access its settings.

In this section, you can set the following options:

  • Pre‑translate files: this option is active by default. When enabled, Matecat will automatically pre-translate project files during the analysis phase. Keep in mind that pre-translation may generate additional charges from the MT provider.
  • Glossaries: Lara glossaries let you specify the correct translations for specific terms and phrases that are crucial to your project, ensuring that the machine translation engine consistently uses those terms from your glossary. This way, your preferred terminology is applied consistently throughout the translations.

Lara Glossaries

If any glossaries are already available, they will be shown in the dedicated list. To select them, simply click on the checkbox next to the glossary you wish to use. You can also select multiple glossaries at the same time.
