Custom Billing Models

Create and manage custom billing models

A billing model is the set of payable rates used to calculate the weighted word count for a project. The payable rate is the percentage of raw words that will be paid for each analysis bucket. This rate can vary based on segment categories such as 100% match, repetition, fuzzy matches, and new words. Below are Matecat's default payable rates.

Here you can find more detailed information on how the Matecat weighted word count for a project is calculated.

Creating a customized billing model

Within the project settings page, you can design a personalized billing model by adjusting the payable rate assigned to each bucket. Custom billing models can be used on individual projects or saved in a project template. In the second case, the model will be automatically applied whenever that template is chosen.

You also have the option to tailor the standard rate for machine translation and establish specific language pair exceptions.

The exception created for a specific language pair will be applied in both directions

When you modify the rate for one or more buckets, you will be asked if you want to save the modifications in the current model or a new one.
You cannot save changes in the default model. In that case, you will be asked to save the changes in a new one.
Please note that if changes are not saved, they won’t be applied to the project.

At any time you can rename or delete your billing models.
