Settings you can enable from the editor page
From the Editor page, you can access extra settings to personalize Matecat to better fit your working style.
Click on the gear icon to open the Editor settings page.
You'll find a range of settings that you can customize to fit your preferences. These settings are saved to your profile, so they will be applied whenever you use Matecat. You can easily update them at any time if your needs or preferences change for a specific project.
The available settings are listed below.
Dictation
When active, allows you to use speech-to-text technology to dictate your translations rather than typing them out manually. Please note that this option is only accessible when using the Chrome browser.
Show whitespace Character
When active, whitespaces in segments and translation memory matches are replaced by a blue dot.
Guess tag position
When active, Matecat hides tags in segments and positions them automatically after the translation has been adjusted and the “Guess tags” button has been pressed, streamlining your workflow and reducing manual effort.
QA by lexiQA
When active, LexiQA’s automatic quality assurance checks (punctuation, double spaces, dates, URLs, symbols etc.) are performed on the supported languages.
Character counter
When active, a real-time character counter for the current segment is displayed in the top-right corner of the segment panel. Matecat counts each character as 1 for all languages except Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Armenian, Georgian, Sinhala and emojis, for which it counts the UTF-16 byte size.
Automatic AI Assistant
When active, the AI assistant is activated automatically when a word is highlighted. The AI assistant can be activated for a maximum of 3 words, 6 Chinese characters or 10 Japanese characters.
Cross-language Matches
When active, displays a dedicated tab with translation matches from the translation memories linked to the job, in the target languages of your choice, serving as helpful references for your work.
